Counting with Hayes

Yesterday, Hayes got to spend lunch time after church with some of the older kids in our core group.  He loves big kids and is in such awe of them, and they are all so good to and with him.  He is a huge copy cat right now, so he came home saying, "No, ma'am" to everything you ask him or do that he doesn't want you to.  It definitely beats the just plain, "No!" that we were getting.  This was our converstation on the way to school this morning...

Me:  "Hayes, do you want to count?"
Hayes: "Jes" with his head nodding yes (he says his Yes with a J sound)
Me:  "OK.  One..."
Hayes: "One, Two, Three, Seven, Eight, Nine"
Me: "What about Four, Five, and Six?"
Hayes: "No, ma'am!"

I laughed.  He makes my day everyday even on the most difficult days.  No one can ever tell you how much you will love a child!

I've always told you that you could never know how much I loved you until you had a baby of your own. Once again, Mom is right!!

Hayes David Hogue, you are the sweetest little boy in the whole wide world. You are the best of your mommy and daddy and both of them are very special.
I love, love, love the three of you!
