Hayes - Funny Boy!

When Hayes got home from daycare yesterday, his left eye was all scratched up and black.  We figured that someone had clawed him at daycare, but we decided to see if he could tell us what had happened.  Here is how the conversation with our 21 month old went...

David: "Hayes, what happened to your eye?"
Hayes:  "Turby" in his most pitiful little voice (he doesn't make the K sound for Kirby so it comes out Turby)
Me:  "Kirby? What did Kirby do to you?"
Hayes: "Bite"
David: "Where did Kirby bite you?" - knowing that Kirby didn't bite him
Hayes: "Face" back in that pitiful whine voice

Turns out Hayes had gotten in trouble by David for throwing rocks at Kirby in the yard.  Who knows how the story in his little world turned to Kirby biting him in the face.  He is not even 2 yet and he can already spin a story!!  What am I going to do with that kid?

His story continued this morning but Kirby had now bitten his leg and not his face.  Then he would lean his little head over like he was going in for a hug and say, "Sorry, Turby!  Rocks."  It was so sweet and hilarious at the same time.  It was all I could do not to die laughing.  He is just the funniest little person I have even seen!

When we got to daycare, I asked his teachers if they knew what had happened to his eye because he kept telling us that Kirby bit him.  They all laughed and confirmed that a little girl did in fact try to claw his eyes out.  Maybe he will heal up over the weekend and stop saying that he got bit by the dog.
